Last week, a few fellow photographers and I headed out to Palm Springs to do some light painting in the desert. What's light painting? Well, you need a dark location, a subject and a flashlight or light source. We all set up our tripods and left our shutters open for 30 seconds and for this image, I just danced around with a purple flashlight. We were experimenting and having a great time out in the dark. Years ago in college, I "painted" small objects like flowers in vases. This was the first time I really got to go big with the windmills in the background. Needless to say it was a lot of fun and I want to do more but next time with people since my specialty is portraits. But I'm definitely ready to shoot more stuff for myself and for art sakes. It keeps you on your toes and makes you more fun for your clients!
