A few years ago, a friend told me about this cool balloon sculpture you could actually go inside of. Of course I had to go check it out. The assistants and I headed over to Cal State Long Beach to see this sculpture. We waited in a long line and got 15 minutes to explore. I was overwhelmed at how cool it was. Each "room" was a different color, the ceilings had different patterns and colors and shapes. It was very fun installation art. The experience was amazing. I wanted to stay in there for much longer but alas the long line of people waiting to get in and I wanted them to see it too.
I found out more about the creators of the sculpture online: http://www.architects-of-air.com/
So I check out the tours every so often and found out that a new structure was going to be touring in Lancaster, CA at the Poppy Festival. The assistants, my husband and I trekked out to Antelope Valley (about 1.5hrs away from Long Beach) to see it and visit the poppy festival and fields too. It was about 90 degrees this past weekend there so it was pretty hot inside the structure. There was no line and we could stay in as long as we liked. The heat forced us out a little sooner than we had hoped but we still got to spend a ton of time exploring. It was just as amazing as the first time.
Art is fun - go explore - seek it out!
P.S. It was spring break last week and we also visited the Latin American Museum of Art. Frank Romero's work was on display. It was so much like my parents' artwork and the art made me want to paint again. https://www.molaa.org/exhibition/dreamland-frank-romero-retrospective/
